從2016年開始，每年的五月一號，總會習慣循環播放Bee Gees《First of May》，過往雲煙如浮光掠影般，伴隨著旋律與歌詞湧上心頭。電影《五月一號》巧妙地以這首歌作為電影主題曲，以時空交錯的方式紀錄母女兩代在學生時期的愛情故事。時間不僅承載了愛情的回憶，也刻畫當下的時代印記，從母親王雷與林克銘的傳統70年代，簡單純粹卻深刻迷人，到女兒沈亦白跟葉中樹轟轟烈烈的速食愛情，完整的劇情鋪陳，為不同時代的初戀分別寫下細膩別緻的故事，同時也讓人回首愛情最初的樣貌與悸動。
